Behind the scenes info under the cut.
Allow me to be a little gross and tell you about the story behind that picture on the website. Because it was my idea.
When we shot the Lyckham episodes, Bernie said to me, we need to get a picture of you for the website. He said some type of girls gone wild thing, and I was like…uh, I don’t know how cool I feel about that. I said, what if it’s a picture of the two of them “like looking hot at the club” was I believe how I put it. He said fine.
So a few weeks later some of the cast were getting together one night, and Wes and I were planning on taking this picture because it was getting down to the wire. And as I drove to work that morning, it hit me.
What if it wasn’t that. What if, one morning, Lydia and George had just been in bed talking for hours. And she took pictures of them. Pictures for her, pictures she just kept on her phone and looked at when she wasn’t paying attention in class. Pictures that were hers and only hers.
And then George took that picture, because it worked for what he needed it to work for. Imagining Lydia looking at that site and seeing that picture, her picture, her special thing, on this cheap tacky website with weird glitter font and terrible terrible things on it—that kind of made the betrayal really real for me. That devastated me for her.
So I asked Wes if that would be something he’d be okay with, and he said yeah, that he thought it made sense too.
When we took it, we took a bunch more that were a lot more romantic or whatever, kissing or staring longingly at each other, and in one—that one—I just giggled. I laughed. And when we looked at all of them, we were like, that’s it. You look so happy.
And that’s how that picture came to be.
